The family home of the Earls of Glasgow, Kelburn has long been an inspiration for adults and a paradise for children. The castle, dating back to the 13th century, still lived in by the present Earl and family, is open to the public in July and August and provides an impressive background to exotic gardens, famous trees and many features of historical interest. The Kelburn Glen with its waterfalls and deep gorges is regarded as one of Scotland's most beautiful woodlands and leads to spectacular views over the islands of the Firth of Clyde.

Riding School

Kelburn Castle and Country Centre has one of the largest riding centres in the west of Scotland, providing all that is necessary from beginners to accomplished riders. We are open all year round providing everything from Paddock Rides to Hacks around the scenic Kelburn Estate with stunning views over the Firth of Clyde.

All staff are fully qualified to BHS and TRSS standards and they will be delighted to assist you in all aspects of riding. Safety is always paramount at Kelburn as can be seen by our new All Weather Arena which has a specialised surface and is floodlit. Private Lessons and Group Lessons are available on request. The Arena, together with a selection of jumps if required, can be leased for private bookings by telephoning or emailing the enclosed numbers. Cross Country course is also available for hire.

Indoor Playbarn

Kelburn’s new custom built Indoor Playbarn is a great adventure play area for children toddler to 12years. It consists of two exciting slides, a ball pool, climbing wall, creepy caves and a castle. Parents can sit with a tea or coffee in the viewing gallery and watch their children having fun. The Playbarn can accommodate up to 30 children at any one time. There is always a supervisor present while the Playbarn is open.

Adventure Course

This is a challenging trail of wooden walkways, stepping stones, rope swings and ladders, set out within an existing woodland area which includes a high-wire crossing between two trees, twenty feet apart and fifteen feet off the ground. Adults must accompany children on all parts of the Adventure Course.

Pet's Corner

Kelburn's Pet's Corner contains a variety of different breeds of rabbits and guinea pigs, chickes and other birds, while in the outer paddocks, you can visit sheep, goats and Vietnamese pot bellied pigs.

Waterfalls

The Kelburn Glen is a magical place with many gorges and waterfalls and playing by waterfalls has proved an irresistible attraction for children. The Waterfall Pool, set in a spectacular sandstone grotto only 250 yards from the Centre, is particularly popular with children and adults alike.
